"K" Line Global Container Control System Successfully Implemented by Advent
TOKYO, JAPAN --- Advent, Inc., a software development company located in New Providence, NJ that specializes in mission-critical applications for the shipping industry, has successfully implemented the first module of a global operating system it is developing for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line). This module will handle Container Control for all of “K” Line’s worldwide transportation operations.
In addition to the Container Control application, Advent is currently developing component-based, multiple-tier applications for “K” Line’s Booking and Documentation departments. Advent was awarded the contract for the development of “K” Line’s global operating system in April 2000.
The November release of the Container Control system was one of the most successful systems implementations for “K” Line, handling a massive amount of EDI and manual data transactions with success.
The Container Control system marked the first installation of Phase One of “K” Line’s global operating system. It was used by offices in Japan, Europe and North America via “K” Line’s global wide area network (WAN). Phase Two of the global system will be released most other “K” Line location in the world.
Advent was selected for the project because of its extensive experience with maritime and intermodal operations as well as its ability to deliver state of the art systems with success.
