TOKYO, JAPAN --- Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line) has awarded a contract for the development of its global operating system to Advent, Inc., a software development company located in New Providence, NJ that specializes in mission-critical applications for the shipping industry.
This very large-scale project, lead by Mr. Satoru Kuboshima, CIO of “K” Line, will provide “K” Line with a 3-tier system utilizing the Microsoft COM+ architecture. “K” Line plans to provide customers with state of the art reporting and EDI functionality. With the completion of this project, “K” Line will lead the shipping industry in technology and service provided to customers.
“The objectives of the project are to integrate all shipment information in order to further improve the quality and timeliness for the Customers. We expect to streamline and rationalize their core business operation by providing the most advanced IT solution to conduct day to day business more efficiently, and yet to cover various business needs in an growing “eBusiness” era.

Advent will develop component-based applications for “K” Line’s Booking, Documentation and Container Control systems. The first release of the system will be used by offices in Japan, Europe and North America via “K” Line’s global wide area network (WAN). Phase Two will be released to most “K” Line locations in the world.
Advent was selected for the project because of its extensive experience with maritime and intermodal operations as well as its ability to deliver successful projects.
