ADVENT HELPS SEABOARD MARINE OFFER THEIR CUSTOMERS ON-LINE SHIPMENT INSTRUCTIONS

New web-based application for Shipment Instructions

Miami, FL - Seaboard Marine was looking for a solution to allow their customers to enter shipment instructions electronically. The old way of accepting shipment instructions via fax and phone was becoming too cumbersome. Seaboard needed a system to move their processing into the 21^st century.

Advent worked with Seaboard Marine to integrate a complete shipment instruction application into their existing customer website. The system allows customers to log in, view their bookings, select an available container and enter shipment instructions. It also allows customers to manage their shipment instructions and track the status of the instructions from submission to Bill of Lading.

The shipment instructions application needed to be accessible to customers throughout Central and South America. Since many customers were in rural areas, special care was made to support low bandwidth internet connections.

The system was developed using Microsoft .Net technology to run on existing Seaboard Marine web servers and MS SQL Server 2000 servers. The system also interfaces with their existing AS400 based booking and documentation systems.
